Essential oils are becoming very mainstream but are you feeling a bit overwhelmed and aren’t sure where to start? When I first started using essential oils I had no idea where to even start. I got hooked because I was tired of taking traditional medication for my migraines. A friend who was into Doterra asked if I’d tried PastTense. When I got my first bottle I was hooked. It worked wonders for me.
After my PastTense experience and becoming a new mom I started to look at what we put in, on, and around our bodies and decided I wanted an alternative. I looked at my new family and defined my top three priorities. For me, this is my family’s immune system, overall health, and beautiful clear natural skin.
If you have been curious and are open to natural options to support your body, you will love using essential oils. Essential oils are simple to use, effective and empowering.
A Few Facts About Essential Oils
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are the aromatic properties of a plant. For example, when you smell a rose you are actually experiencing the essential oil of the rose. Essential oils come from plants that have been steam distilled or cold pressed from either the roots, stems, leaves, needles, flowers and the rinds of citrus fruit.
Plants have a fatty sack that sits and wards off predators or illness. This is where the essential oils come from. So, basically, we are using the immune system of the plant to support our own immune systems.
Why Do Essential Oils Work So Well?
Essential oils and humans are carbon-based. Meaning when you use an essential oil (on or in your body) your body instinctively recognizes and know where to utilize the oil in order to support your body. Since your body recognizes the oil there are no side effects when using essential oils, just side benefits.
For example, if you are using a drop of Frankincense under your tongue for the anti-inflammatory properties, you will also get the emotionally calming and balancing benefits of this oil. (Isn’t that awesome!)
How Much? How Often?
One of the great things about using essential oils is less is more. Start with one to two drops every 15 to 20 minutes until you feel like you’ve received the therapeutic benefits.
